October Is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Throughout the month, Day One will be hosting and participating in a number of trainings and special events.

Day One’s Supervising Attorney Andrew Santa Ana will conduct trainings on custody and visitation and intimate partner violence for the American Bar Association from October 7-10. On October 8, Day One Program Director Michele Paolella will conduct Day One’s “Not a Wifebeater” interactive arts workshop with multiple classes of students at Pace University.

On Tuesday, October 14, Day One will host its annual benefit at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. Tickets are still available!  Visit http://tinyurl.com/DayOneNYGala for more information.

On October 20, Day One Executive Director Stephanie Nilva will be participating in a free panel at Cooper Union called The Epidemic of Sexual Abuse in Our Schools. October 22 sees Program Director Michele Paolella offering a training on Intimate Partner Violence and Sexual assault for college Title 9 coordinators at Fordham University. Finally, on October 29, Day One Supervising Attorney Andrew Santa Ana will be conducting a training for Bronx judges and court staff on intimate partner violence among youth.
