Writing Prompts and Exercises
Journaling, or writing in a notebook or diary, is a great way to help you process your feelings and practice self-care.
Have you ever felt so overwhelmed that you weren’t sure what to do?
Have you had problems expressing yourself or identifying what you think or feel about something?
Journaling, or writing in a notebook or diary, is a great way to help you process your feelings and practice self-care.
A journal is a safe space to process, vent, and share your thoughts. Journaling can also help you to think about your feelings about relationships, your current partner, or what you are looking for in a relationship. Many people find that it’s therapeutic and can help with their mental health.
You can write about whatever you want in your journal, but sometimes having a specific goal in mind can help you to get started! Here are a few suggestions from Day One on the topic of healthy relationships.
Does your partner make you feel safe? In what ways?
Does your partner make you feel wanted? Write about how.
How do you and your partner communicate?
Do you and your partner practice honesty? How do you show trust?
Do negative feelings come up in your relationship? Do you talk to your partner about those feelings? If you do, what changes?
Are there things you want to change in your relationship? What are they?
If you could change something about a past relationship, what would it be?
What do you want your romantic relationships to look like? What about your relationships with your friends? Family?
Write a letter to your future self. What do you want to say?
What are some things you do for self-care? What are some new things you could try?
What is something you can do to help you get through a breakup?
