Youth Advisory Board
The Youth Advisory Board allows young people to lead conversations with the Day One staff about teen dating abuse, social justice issues, youth events, campaigns, and more.
Day One’s Youth Advisory Board is a paid year-long program from October thru September. Our members serve as youth advocates in training. Participation in the Youth Advisory Board allows young people to lead conversations with the Day One staff about teen dating abuse, social justice issues, youth events, campaigns, and more. In addition, the members will meet with the Day One program staff to lend their knowledge and youth-focused lens to our work. They provide guidance and feedback on issues and policies impacting New York City youth. Throughout the course of the year, they will participate in workshops for professional development and engage in knowledge-building and sharing.
During the school year, the group will meet for a monthly session to continue learning about social justice issues related to teen dating abuse, building leadership skills, and more. Participants will work in groups based on interest to plan events, create campaigns, and recruit more young people to participate in Day One activities. All meetings and sessions will be after school hours. Sessions will be held via zoom or in person.
