Youth Advisory Board
The Youth Advisory Board allows young people to lead conversations with the Day One staff about teen dating abuse, social justice issues, youth events, campaigns, and more.
Day One’s Youth Advisory Board is a paid, year-long program running from October through September. Members serve as youth advocates in training, working closely with Day One staff to lead conversations on teen dating abuse, social justice issues, youth events, campaigns, and more.
Youth Advisory Board members collaborate with program staff to bring a youth-centered perspective to Day One’s work. They offer guidance and feedback on issues and policies impacting young people across New York City. Throughout the year, participants engage in professional development workshops and take part in knowledge-building and sharing.
During the school year, members attend monthly sessions focused on social justice issues related to teen dating abuse, leadership development, and advocacy skills. Participants also work in groups based on their interests to plan events, create campaigns, and recruit other young people to get involved in Day One’s work. All meetings take place after school hours and are held either via Zoom or in person.
