Training and Education
Day One’s Training Team includes Youth Education, Early RAPP, Professional Training, and Outreach. While other teams have staff who conduct trainings, the Training Team is made up of those whose primary role at Day One is to lead workshops and trainings.
Training Team (TNT)
Early RAPP:
The Early Relationship Abuse Prevention Program (Early RAPP) uses a healthy relationship training model to expand youth prevention education in DOE middle schools and community-based organizations. Early RAPP Educators provide workshops for students, parents, community members, and professionals. Educators implement ongoing relationship abuse prevention curricula in their assigned schools and connect students and families to support services.
Youth Education:
This program offers interactive workshops for young people between the ages of 10 and 24 (grades 6–12 and college). Workshops focus on teen dating violence awareness, prevention, and intervention education. Youth Educators travel throughout the five boroughs to teach Day One’s curriculum and partner with youth to share critical information. They also represent Day One at community tabling events, conferences, and panels. Additionally, Youth Educators support staff training and caregiver workshops as needed.
Professional Training:
Day One provides CEU training for youth-serving professionals across all fields. These sessions cover the fundamentals of teen dating violence, how to support survivors, and how to recognize the signs of abusive relationships. Professionals gain an understanding of Day One’s youth empowerment model and how to support young people effectively.
