People & Operations Associate (Part-Time)
Job Summary
Day One seeks a detail-oriented and energetic People & Operations Associate to join our Administration Team on a part-time basis. This collaborative role works closely with and reports to the Director of People and Operations to oversee the essential functions that keep our organization running effectively. The Associate is critical to managing our administrative backbone, spanning day-to-day office operations, finance administration, technical support coordination, and human resources activities. You won’t just be processing paperwork; you’ll be the engine of our day-to-day work, collaborating on essential functions that include:
- People: Supporting HR processes, staff development, and maintaining personnel data.
- Operations: Overseeing office management, vendor relations, and ensuring smooth daily function.
- Finance & Tech: Assisting with administrative finance tasks and coordinating technical support needs.

About Day One
Since 2003, Day One has devoted its full resources to preventing intimate partner and sexual violence (IPSV) among young people. Day One partners with New York City youth to end IPSV through a combination of preventive and direct services. Our multi-disciplinary approach brings together a highly collaborative staff with expertise in legal and social services, prevention education, and youth leadership development. Serving New York City youth up to 24 years of age, our mission is to put an end to gender based violence.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Human Resources (HR) Support
- Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding:
- Assist with the full-cycle recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating background checks.
- Co-design and co-facilitate all employee, intern, and volunteer orientations and the onboarding process.
- Assist with preparing new hire paperwork and conducting compliance checks throughout the employee life cycle, ensuring that all employee payroll, benefits, workspace, and technology needs are addressed.
- Offboard employees, interns, and volunteers from all platforms and conduct exit interviews
- Supervise and recruit People and Operations interns
- Maintain and update employee files to ensure all personnel records are accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant regulations.
- HR Administration & Compliance:
- Process and track HR-related documentation, including status changes, performance reviews, and termination paperwork.
- Maintain data accuracy in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and other internal databases.
- Assist with benefits administration, including new enrollment, changes, and answering basic employee questions.
- Provide support for payroll preparation, including reviewing and verifying time/attendance data, and assist with full-cycle payroll processing.
- Employee Relations & Engagement:
- Serve as the first point of contact for routine employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits.
- Assist with planning and execution of internal employee engagement activities; Co-chair the Good Times Committee (GTC) in the planning and coordination of company events.
Operations & Administrative Support
- Office Management:
- Manage general office operations, including ordering and maintaining office supplies and equipment, as well as fulfilling supply requests for programs, and developing and managing vendor relationships.
- Liaise with building management as needed and manage the upkeep and maintenance of facility operations.
- Administrative & Reporting:
- Provide high-level administrative support to the leadership team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and preparing presentations or reports as needed.
- Handle general business correspondence, filing, and record-keeping for the operations department.
- Assist in inventory tracking, credit card expense reconciliation, and supporting accounting team functions.
- Processing certificates of insurance (COI) requests and other ad hoc projects as needed.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR and administrative processes to improve efficiency and workflow.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have prior experience providing support and operational assistance in an office setting. Strong oral and written communication skills are required, and proficiency with Google Suite and MS Office applications is essential.
- Education:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in an administrative, HR, or Operations support role.

- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as experience with Salesforce and an HRIS (e.g., Stratus Time), is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proactive, self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a collaborative setting who can manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Basic knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices preferred.

Salary and Benefits:

Staten Island-Based Community Educator
Job Summary: Day One seeks a dynamic full-time Community Educator based in Staten Island to join
our Training Department. The Community Educator will deliver preventive and informative workshops on teen dating abuse in schools and youth-serving spaces to young people in grades 6 through 8, school-based staff, youth-serving professionals, and parents/caregivers. The Community Educator will deliver Day One’s teen dating abuse prevention curriculum throughout Staten Island, conduct outreach, attend
professional development opportunities, and link young people and families to resources that aid in
prevention of intimate partner violence.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Conduct community outreach and awareness activities throughout Staten Island;
Build and maintain relationships with schools, community-based organizations, and government
agencies throughout Staten Island;
Build and facilitate healthy relationships curriculum addressing dating abuse, gender,
relationship stereotypes, consent, coercion, and more to youth in middle school, their
caregivers, school staff, and other youth development professionals;
Respond to and coordinate workshop requests with school staff and community-based
representatives;
Assist in the development of materials and workshops for use in the Training Department and
across the organization;
Assist in tracking program data through the use of Salesforce and other data collection and
measurement tools;
Maintain a flexible schedule, allowing for early morning, evening, or occasional weekend
workshops or presentations;
Help create and maintain a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace and learning
environment, and commit to principles combating racism and gender inequality; and
Other duties as assigned and needed.
Qualifications
At least two years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s Degree with at least one year of
relevant experience;
Experience facilitating training, workshops, and/or other educational opportunities for young
people;
Demonstrated ability to engage young people in conversation about gender-based violence;
Emerging and/or established understanding of the nuanced dynamics of intimate partner and
other forms of gender-based violence and the systems to dominance and oppression that
sustain this violence;
Ability to work with diverse groups of youth, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and
gender-nonconforming youth; immigrant youth; youth in care; and/or low-income
communities;
Comfort working within New York City public schools, and demonstrated ability navigating the
challenges and opportunities that school-based work presents;
Experience with communication and learning management tools such as Zoom, Microsoft
Office, Google Suite, Slack and Canva; and
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative setting;
Salary and Benefits: Salary range is $55,000-$61,000, depending on experience and language capacity.

RAPP Coordinator (School Based Relationship Abuse Prevention Program)

Job Summary
Day One seeks a licensed master’s social worker to join our RAPP Team as a full-time Relationship Abuse Prevention Program (RAPP) Coordinator. The position will be based at a NYC high school.
The RAPP Coordinator will provide the following teen dating violence prevention and intervention services at their high school:
- Trauma-informed individual and group counseling
- Preventive and informative workshops on teen dating abuse and relationship wellness
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of the summer peer leadership institute
- Develop and facilitate prevention education workshops during the academic year and during SPLI
- Professional development for teachers and school staff
- Community outreach to youth, caregivers, and community members
As a full-time employee of Day One, the RAPP Coordinator will be assigned to a New York City high school where they will provide direct services to students Monday-Thursday. On Fridays, RAPP Coordinators work out of the Day One office in lower Manhattan for supervision and team meetings.
Responsibilities of the RAPP Coordinator include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and deliver classroom workshops on healthy relationships, dating abuse, consent and coercion, and other relevant topics.
- Develop and deliver training for caregivers, community members, and school-based professionals.
- Deliver trauma-informed and anti-oppressive counseling to individuals and groups affected by dating violence.
- Collaboratively coordinate and facilitate the Summer Peer Leadership Institute, a 7-week intensive training program for high school youth to learn leadership and advocacy skills.
- Coordinate outreach, scheduling, and partnership with community-based organizations
- Participate in clinical supervision
- Work with Day One staff to determine program direction and expansion, including participating in strategic planning and program evaluation activities
- Represent Day One at community-based events, panels, conferences, and occasional media opportunities
- Assist in tracking program data and service deliverables
- Effectively manage program budget
- Availability for occasional evening or weekend meetings or presentations
- Other related duties as assigned
**Required Qualifications**
- Master’s degree in Social Work (LMSW required within the first 6 months of hiring)
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to provide counseling and/or facilitation in additional languages
- At least one year of experience providing direct services to adolescents with various social locations (ex., race, ethnicity, ability, sexuality, gender, religion, socioeconomic level, housing status, immigration status, criminal justice involvement, foster care involvement, etc.)
- Knowledge in any or all of the following areas:
- the dynamics of relationship violence
- the current anti-violence/gender-based violence landscape
- youth development
- prevention education
- workshop facilitation
- Assist in tracking program data and service deliverables
- Effectively manage program budget
- Availability for occasional evening or weekend meetings or presentations
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for the position of RAPP Coordinator is $65,000 – $76,000. Day One offers a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, 401 (k) with match, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and vacation. Additionally, clinical supervision hours will be provided by an LCSW.

SOCIAL WORKER JOB DESCRIPTION
Day One seeks a Social Worker to support the provision of social services to young survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence (IPSV) aged 24 and under. Working under the supervision of Day One’s Associate Director of Social Services, the Social Worker will support Day One’s social services department in the provision of a wide range of social services, including but not limited to both individual and support group counseling as well as case management services. Case management tasks could include completing intake assessments, safety planning, advocacy, and referrals.

- Provide information and complete applications for OVS victim compensation
- Document program and client activity, maintain complete digital and physical case files
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of legal and social services staff on high-risk, complicated, and/or multi-service cases

- Maintain client confidentiality
- Contribute to conversations related to program growth, strategy, and evaluation

Requirements & Qualifications
- Master of Social Work degree with a minimum of two years of related work experience; LMSW required within six months of hire

- Experience with group facilitation a plus; interest in youth, IPV, and/or family law encouraged
- A high sense of integrity, responsibility, and initiative
- Fluency in Spanish is required
